Tayport Distillery wins Gold at the International Wine and Spirits Competition

Fri 18 Mar 22

Tayport Distillery had another successful year at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) winning their third Gold award in two years! This year, their 1992 Raspberry Liqueur rose to the top, becoming the only British Liqueur to gain Gold Award recognition. The IWSC had over 4,000 spirit entries this year and was judged by 85 leading spirits experts.

Here is what the judges had to say:

‘A shining example with great balance and poise. It displays real raspberry flavours and a subtle tartness that's delicately balanced, with the sweetness of berry jam on a light and subtle finish.’

This award comes after 1992 Raspberry Liqueur’s major success at the Great Taste Awards in 2020, where it also won 3 Stars and the Golden Fork Award for Scotland. Since then, it has been featured on ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh and secured a placement in Co-op’s across Scotland.

Tayport Distillery’s 1992 Raspberry Liqueur achieves its delicious taste from freshly picked Scottish raspberries in the East Neuk of Fife. Over the past year, it has been one of Tayport Distillery’s most sought after products. Kecia McDougall, commented:

We are over the moon that our 1992 Raspberry Liqueur has been recognised again for such an outstanding award! To achieve 95 pts against some tough competition really is such an honour! However, we always say that we would not be able to achieve our delicious taste without Scottish raspberries so a huge thanks has to go to our Scottish farmers!’
