On 19th January 2022, the Scottish Government passed the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 (Licensing of Short-term Lets) Order 2022. The council are currently in the process of preparing the licensing scheme. This is due to be launched no later than 1st October 2022.
Please note: From 1st October 2022, new hosts must not operate without a licence. All existing hosts/operators have until 1st April 2023 to apply for a provisional licence with short-term lets and are required to be fully licensed by the 1st July 2024.

The Council wishes to collate the views of people and organisations to help shape the Short-term Let Licensing Scheme. Our online consultation survey is now available at the link below. The purpose of the survey is to consider which discretionary elements of the legislation should be included to reflect the Fife context.
