Outlander Familiarisation Event

TUESDAY 24TH NOVEMBER 9.15am until 1pm

The TV adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's first in a series of eight Outlander novels has resulted in a significant increase in tourism in Fife. There have been thousands of extra visitors. Why?
The programmes have been broadcast in the USA, Germany and in Britain. Fans of the books and, now of the TV series, are keen to visit the film locations, and 'imagine' where the romantic Scottish story of Jamie and Claire all took place.

The local tourism association (LTA), supported by Fife Tourism Partnership has identified that there is potential for many of our local visitor businesses to benefit from this increased tourism interest, and has already produced an information leaflet, set up a Facebook page and Twitter account, and along with Visit Scotland produced thousands of postcards, now being distributed in the USA promoting the Fife filming locations. We can expect even more visitors in 2016. They need guides, accommodation, food, and also want to learn about our real history, and culture.

You are invited to learn more about the opportunities emerging, by attending a half day familiarisation event on Tuesday 24th November, commencing at 9.30 at the Keavil House Hotel, Crossford, Fife KY12 8QW. The event will involve an initial presentation on the potential created by Outlander, followed by an escorted coach visit to two of the sites. Further guided information will be provided as you travel.

Who will be interested in this event? – Tour operators, accommodation and hospitality providers, visitor attractions, creative businesses. There is no charge for this event, but priority will be given to existing members of the LTA and registered members of Fife Tourism Partnership.

There are only 40 places available for this event, so register early with Peter Wilson on [email protected]. There is real potential here, so please take advantage of this offer.
