ONFife brings together Fife’s finest for summer celebration of kingdom’s food and drink in new café & bar

ONFife is bringing together some of Fife’s best-loved food and drink to celebrate summer outdoors with an exciting new twice-weekly café and bar at the Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy.

The Advantage Café & Bar will be popping up at the venue every Friday and Saturday from next week, giving the town centre a great place to enjoy an alfresco coffee, breakfast, lunch, chill-out with a cooling drink – or indulge in a bit of escapism in these challenging times with a luxury afternoon tea.

The café and bar will operate fully in line with Scottish Government guidelines and appropriate social distancing and there will also be a take-away option.

The Advantage will be offering a real taste of summer with a big helping of great producers – coming on board are much-loved Kirkcaldy favourites, Kangus Coffee House and the Buffalo Farm; from St Andrews will be the award-winning Jannettas Gelateria, St Andrews Brewing Co and Eden Mill Gin; and providing hand-crafted bespoke afternoon tea will be cake and food experience company Hatters from Newburgh.

“This is an incredibly exciting venture because, like so many organisations during the pandemic, we’ve been looking for creative ways to reconnect with customers,” said Judy Rae, head of business development.

“ONFife’s wider ShineOnFife campaign has been highlighting the best activities going on in the kingdom during lockdown so it’s great to continue that by bringing together great producers to shine the spotlight on them.

“In these difficult times we all need to be able to relax in a safe environment and we are delighted to provide a way for people to enjoy some amazing food and drink,

from Jannettas award-winning ice-cream to a famed Buffalo Farm Burger to a taste of St Andrews Brewing Co’s finest brews.

“We also hope people will want to show their support for ONFife. As a charity, the profit from the venture will go to help our theatres, museums, galleries and libraries at a time when the culture sector faces real challenges.”

The Advantage, which takes its name from the economic theory of absolute advantage put forward by 18th century economist and philosopher Adam Smith who was born in Kirkcaldy, opens on Friday, 24 July, and will initially be open from 10am on Fridays and Saturdays until September.

“However, we will be listening to what our customers want and possibly will open on more days, or for longer times, if people want to join us,” Judy added.
