With a provisional date for the opening of tourism of Wednesday 15 July in place, last week (week beginning 22 June) VisitScotland launched #HameTownTourist. It’s an integrated marketing, social, influencer and media campaign to inspire consumers across Scotland to rediscover their local areas and support our tourism industry.
The campaign asked people to consider where will be the first place they want to visit once we move into phase three of the Scottish Government’s route map and more of the tourism industry will open for visitors.
Scottish influencers across the country engaged with their online communities in a conversation about staying local while getting out to support businesses in their area that have suffered as a result of this pandemic when the time comes for businesses to reopen. The group of influencers inspired their followers with the first places they’ll be looking to visit once they can and encouraging followers to share their own recommendations and ideas.
