Nicola Sturgeon delivered a Covid briefing yesterday, announcing that Scotland has hit its highest number of Covid cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.
She said: 'New cases in Scotland have more than doubled over the past week, and that is one of the sharpest rises we have experienced at any point during the pandemic.' and added that 'the scale of the increase is still a cause of real concern.'
The First Minister highlighted the importance of adhering to the Scottish Government's guidance, adding that we are at a 'fragile and pivotal moment in the pandemic' with a caution that 'If the surge continues and if it accelerates and if we start to see evidence of a substantial increase in serious illness as a result, we cannot completely rule out having to reimpose some restrictions.'
