Fife Pride announces final line-up featuring X-Factor stars The Cutkelvins

Thu 21 Jun 18

Fife Pride organisers have announced the final line up in advance of the event being held on 7th July in Kirkcaldy and it’s very impressive.

The event organiser have just announced that X-Factor stars The Cutkelvins will be the main headliners of this year’s event, joining them will be Michelle McManus, Allan Jay, Abba Gold and an impressive list of local talent.

Speaking about the latest addition to the line-up co-convener Neale Hanvey said,

“We are delighted to have secured the X-Factor stars The Cutkelvins for Fife Pride 2018. We’re so grateful they were able to take time from their hectic touring schedule to come to Fife. We’re also delighted to announce that UK wide Pride star Allan Jay and his dancers will also be making an appearance for Fife Pride this year. He might not be a name known to everyone, but we’re confident he will go down a storm."

“This year the headline acts will be appearing throughout the day, rather than all at the end, so be sure to get here in good time so as not to miss your favourite. We’ll be posting updates on timings ahead of the day on our Facebook page.

“We’re also delighted that O’Connel’s bar and diner are throwing the Fife Pride after-party from 8pm until 2am, so there’s no need for the fun to stop! Whilst this is still in planning, expect some great entertainment as we continue to party in style into the wee small hours”

Fife Pride kicks off at 12 midday on the 7th July with a parade from Carlyle Road, marching down Kirk Wynd then along the High Street finally heading up Whytescauseway to the Town Square where the main festival is being held. Anyone wishing to join the parade should muster on Carlyle road and follow the advice of Fife Pride stewards and Police Scotland.

Full details of the main stage running order will be made available on the Fife Pride Facebook page before the event. And remember the hashtag #BeProudBeYou

Fife Pride is financially supported by Fife Council, the National Lottery Fund and Shell UK and works in partnership with LGBT+ charity Pink Saltire, Fife Centre for Equalities, Fife Cultural Trust and Kirkcaldy 4 All.

Speaking ahead of this year’s event, Stuart Duffy, founder of LGBT+ charity Pink Saltire, reinforced the importance of Pride saying;

“We’re delighted to be supporting Fife Pride in its second year and have worked hard to ensure the event continues into the future. We know from feedback last year that Pride events are important in changing hearts and minds about LGBT equality and they provide a highly visible opportunity to engage with a community which can sometimes be difficult to reach.  2018 has seen Scotland take further steps to enhance LGBT equality, with the Turing Law introduced at Holyrood and a consultation on changes to gender recognition laws. There’s still so much more to do in every community to completely eradicate discrimination though and Pride is a vital element of that work, fighting hatred with love.”

Nina Munday, Manager of Fife Centre for Equalities, added:

“We are all proud to have such a successful Pride in Fife.  Our team is working alongside Pride’s partners to make Fife Pride inclusive of all communities.  We encourage everyone who is committed to make Fife an equal and fair place for all to join in the preparation for one of the key events in Fife’s calendar.”
