Deep Sea World, Scotland's national aquarium, is inviting everyone to join in the festive fun with elf-guided tours, a scuba-diving Santa Claus and a very special Xmas Giving Tree.

Do you think you have what it takes to make the grade and join Santa's exclusive team of toy makers?

Running at weekends from December 12th up until Christmas why not join our naughty elf for regular guided tours of our festive fishes.

As you can imagine this is no ordinary 'elf aquarium' – creep in through the spiders' tunnel, travel through the swamp into the shark tunnel learning all about the aquarium's residents on the way... but remember the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear!

As well as the elf tours staff at the North Queensferry attraction have also put up a Christmas Giving Tree in the aquarium's entrance hall and are inviting colleagues and visitors to place donated presents beneath its branches.

All the gifts will then be collected together and transported to a local hospital's children's ward.

Deep Sea World's Kerry Myers said: "We got in touch with the Children's Ward at Victoria Hospital in Fife and asked if we could get some gifts for all the children there over Christmas.

"At first the tree was covered with gift tags with the names of the children on the ward but the labels are disappearing fast and the pile of presents in growing.

"All people have to do is hand in their donations to reception. We do all the wrapping and, once we have all the gifts, Charlie the Clownfish will take on the role of Santa Claus and go along to the hospital to hand them out!" she added.

Weekend visitors to the aquarium from December 12th will be able to enjoy the underwater antics of Deep Sea World's very own scuba-diving Santa Claus who will be taking the plunge in the aquarium's giant underwater display which is home to three-metre-long sand tiger sharks and stingrays.
