Onwards and Upwards for Fife Company as strategic changes add up to a big difference
FIFE family run company Mar Scaffolding has really built on the benefits of being involved with the Supplier Development Programme (SDP) organised by Fife Council's Economic Development Team.
The Cowdenbeath- based company, which was formed in 1991 and currently employs around 40 people, joined SDP in February 2012 and have attended several different training workshops to build and enhance the skills of their organisation.
Attending Value Add and Innovation, Quality Management and Environmental Policy and Maximise You Tender Score workshops have proved a useful investment of time for Mar Scaffolding.
It's this relationship with SDP and making strategic changes that have added up to big differences for the company which supplies specialist sub-contractor scaffolding services to commercial and domestic markets.
From investment in software, investment in their staff and an Investors in People award, to relocation recently to their new premises in Cowdenbeath, Mar has a lot to talk about.
But their impressive client list including public sector organisations and private sector companies perhaps talks for itself!
Nat Wilson, MD at Mar said: "The relationship with SDP has really helped add value to our organisation and has given us tangible results too, adding 1/ 2% to our already high tender score.
"That performance, along with our plans for controlled growth, means we're looking forward to further successes in the future.
"Investing in the skills of our workforce has also really achieved results too.
"I'm pleased to say my daughter Joanna and son Daniel have joined us after completing their further education to help take the company onto the next chapter."
