Business Learning Journeys

Fri 27 Nov 15

Fife Food Network has just delivered two successful "business learning journeys" which were made possible though Fife Council grant assistance.

The initiative was spread over September and November this year, with seven businesses travelling to London for the Speciality & Fine Food Fair, and one business and a college hospitality team visiting the BBC Good Food Show in Glasgow.

The Network's co-ordinator, Viv Collie, said that the aims had been to help inspire local businesses by giving them new ideas, allowing them to assess future participation either as individuals or a collective, and providing new contacts for the future.

"We were able to assist with contributions towards tickets, or travel and/or accommodation costs and this was an important factor in making attendance possible.

"The range of participants was wide, including small businesses, a major food distributor, a mid-sized hotel /restaurant operation, and an educational establishment.
"Feedback has been very positive, with most participants describing their experience as 'excellent' and expressing interest in future events."

Activities that benefitted participants, across both events, included talks and cookery demonstrations, witnessing the Great Taste 2015 Awards, seeing and trying new equipment, and increasing awareness of new products, and meeting other producers.

The next learning journey will be to Food and Drink Expo (incorporating the Farm Shop & Deli Show) in Birmingham (18-20 April 2016). For more information contact: [email protected]
